Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Services
If driving qualified traffic to your site is important, here are few tips.
- Unless you are a design firm trying to display your creativity, avoid splashy sites. Develop straight-forward, content-rich, easy-to-read sites. This is especially true for B2B sites.
- Search engines can't read images, so avoid putting keywords in the form of images. The more text, the better.
- Although some search engines are beginning to read Flash, you should still avoid those animated opening pages. At the very least, they can be irritating. At worst, they prevent search engines from finding your site.
- Create as many incoming links as possible from other sites to yours. Develop a link-sharing plan with key partners, and place your information in networking sites such as Linkdin, Spoke, Xing, and others.
- Your home page doesn't always need to be your main landing page. Develop targeted landing pages based on your market segments -- pages filled with all your most important keywords for that segment.
- Sign up for Google AdWords and Google Analytics. The information you can glean from Analytics is priceless -- and the service is free. AdWords are easiily managed according your goals and budgets, and can be a very cost-effective way to drive targeted traffic. You should also look at Microsoft AdCenter.
- Look at the keyword reports you receive from Google Analytics. You might be surprised at the keywords that are leading people to your site. Constantly re-write your pages to reflect those keywords.
- Avoid those offers of submitting your site to "thousands of search engines". There are really only a few that matter: Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask. Those other search engines are either bogus, or simply feed off of Google, anyway. And since Google represents more than half of all searches, it all comes down to one fact: if you succeed with Google, you're probably covered.
- Submit your site to dmoz.org, the "Open Directory Project."
- Put together a plan to create fresh, rotating content. Give your audiences reasons to return, and they'll pass along links to your site to others. Plus, the increased content can help raise visibility with search engines.
